About us
Rye — the land. Hem — the craft.
Ryehem is a slow fashion brand rooted in Lithuanian heritage and built on the belief that clothing should mean something.
Every piece is designed and made by hand — conceived with intention, constructed with care, and finished with the kind of attention that only comes from someone who has loved the craft since childhood.
The name carries both worlds: rye, for the fields and forests of Lithuania, the land that shaped this work; and hem, for the finishing stitch — the final act of making a garment whole. Together, they are a quiet declaration: nature and craft, inseparable.
The Living Thread
This brand was born from a memory. A grandmother sewing during times of scarcity — not from luxury, but from necessity and dignity. That image never left. It became the foundation of everything Ryehem is: the idea that clothing made with your hands, from natural materials, for real life — is one of the most enduring things a person can create.
We call it the Living Thread. The idea that every garment connects the hands that made it to the person who wears it, and beyond — to the generations of makers who understood that the things we make with care outlast everything else.
What we make
Ryehem produces two things: accessories you use every day, and garments you keep for years. Right now, you will find our handmade cotton pouches in the shop — quilted, embroidered, and made from natural fabrics. Each one is small enough to carry anywhere and considered enough to last.
Ready-to-wear pieces — linen trousers, wrap skirts, dresses, and coats — are in development and will be available soon.
How we work
Everything is made in a small studio. Patterns are drafted by hand. Fabrics are selected for longevity, not trend. Production is intentionally slow, because fast is not the point.
Ryehem is a one-person operation — for now. Every order is handled with care, and every piece leaves the studio having been touched by the same hands that designed it.
For those who want less, but better.
